My Favourite Swing...

Mum and Dad have been on the look for a good swing that I can sway and play in. After several trips to the store in vain, they've realised there doesn't exist one as reliable and comfortable as the one I have found.

Also, my Manna and Dadu have gotten me so accustomed (it's not pampering!) to the daily routine of "jhanga jholi", that everyone believes Mum and Dad will have a hard time putting me to sleep in their absence. Find a swing to help them? No way you'll find a substitute for the four loving hands* and simple piece of cloth! Way to go Manna Dadu!

Borrowing mom's dresses...already!

Yep, it's the pretty blue frock you see me wearing. It was carefully preserved all these years (psst...don't ask me how long)! Mom's been really excited to see me wear it. But oddly enough, she's now looking forward to me outgrowing it! Quelle conflict of wishes!

Sitting Pretty...

A more recent image for you all! ;-) Look ye...no pillows this time!

A whole new world!

Hope you fine people have been keeping well. I recently started sitting upright, albeit with some assistance, so thought I'd share this achievement with you all. Admittedly, this image was taken early this month.

I must say that the world finally makes some sense. Now, apples fall down to the ground and don't come hurtling towards me, where I am not just meant to stare at a white ceiling against which people come and go, but am free to enjoy its expanse and rich colours.

Look, I can hold my toys now!
I'm back!

I know it's been long, but I've been busy growing up. Alongside, there's been news of babies popping out (Aditi, Anya), babies in the making (Aarush II, Lavanya II) and babies in the planning (Ahem...I won't tell!).

I thoroughly enjoyed my first english summer - long drives, BBQs, making new friends (Aadi, Anika, Arav, Navi di, Dev) and dips in my little Fee-Tub. I promise to be more regular in my blog updates, but excuse me today, as I prepare to host friends!

My First Ride

You can imagine my excitement when my parents said they were gonna get me a beautiful pearly black, pedigree racer[1], designed by british aerodynamicists & racing experts[2] with centre-seating[3] for optimal balance during cornering and braking. They said it could achieve a breathtaking, heart-stopping 0-60[4] in 3.2 secs, powered by a rear-mounted naturally aspirated engine[5]. Also, I could ride in it with the top down for that wind-in-the-hair cabriolet experience. The iffy english weather wouldn't bother me coz within seconds, I could pull the top[6] over. Even better, it needs no road tax[7] coz it's a low emissions vehicle[8]! They said they'd pass me the keys [9] to my spanking new ride on my first month birthday, and gift it they did! Except, while I was expecting a lovely kid-sized MacLaren F1, this is what I got...

Should've read the footnotes:
[1]but it's called a MacLaren afterall! [2]wannabe experts [3]baby is securely fastened in the centre [4]sorry not mph, 0-60 cm/s [5]humans are naturally aspirated too, aren't they? [6]rain cover included [7]that's mom/dad's headache! [8]only the occassional nitrogen-rich emission from the naturally aspirated "engine" [9]upgrade to key-less entry

Learning for the day: Always trust mom/dad to keep their promise, but clarify if it sounds too promising!..and yes, never skip footonotes!

What's in a name?

After much research and debate, my parents finally christened me this week. My dad has been quoted as wondering why I (and babies generally) aren't born with a name tag. My Mom and Bua agree that babies take after their name in attitude, skills and manners. So plenty time needs to be spent christening a baby - giving the baby a gift for life. My grandparents on the other hand have called me by a zillion names - anything really that comes to mind! Sorry, gotta rush...
Yours truly,
Prisha.

Learning for the day - What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet!

My First Book

It was a joyous day for us as I celebrated my first month - new clothes and some extra massage! However, I did not let the day's significance affect my routine. I pooped, peed, fed and dozed with my usual volatility - one that would daze even the most gifted stochastician. The day rolled on and my papa complimented my mum (and himself) on how calm and quiet a baby I appeared to be [chuckle]. Later on in the day, as I was relaxing on my papa's lap, he picked up a book with a yummy looking piece of "colostrum" stuck on it. I said to myself "quelle treat!", but despite several attempts, was unable to grab it. I suppose it had gone bad anyway...that's why it was so thin!

Learning for the day - Don't judge a cheese by just it's colour (squeeze it!) and a book by it's cover (read it!)

My First Chocolate

"I've fallen in love," she screamed! Yes, it was my dear mom who exclaimed this a few days after my birth. I suppose she needed that long to realise what'd hit her! [chuckle]. Well, my arrival was also celebrated with a big box of customised chocolates with my details all over the wrapper (thanks mausi!). As everyone around me devoured those sleek bars, I lay in my mom's lap lapping up my daily ration of the white gold. I was almost done with my meal when something fabulous hit me...and no, it wasn't the rum-infused-chocolate-pudding. It was pure milk chocolate! Yes, it was the very heavenly bar my mom had been relishing as she'd started to feed me. It'd taken this long for that thing to find it's way to me. And yes, this was my first chocolate in more ways than one!! Psst...Vaibhavi (thanks manna!) is essentially my first name till my dear parents make up their mind. ;-)

Learning for the day - Mom, thanks...but forget love, I'd rather fall in chocolate!

My First Toy

Today, I was placed on the bed of a "tropical jungle" - my first toy. Initially, I was a little scared of the suspended animals, but perhaps it was just my discomfort. So, after I'd relieved myself royally, I decided to make some jungle friends. Suspended from a branch using his curly tail, a little monkey seemed to mock my every attempt to reach him. His smile, ears, eyes quite seemed to resemble the people I see around me. Interestingly enough, they seem to have lost their tails. Then, I turned my attention to the little blue jumbo who seemed to beckon me with his tiny rattle. He was a friendly chap and we agreed we would jam together someday.

Learning for the day - Humans are tail-less monkeys and elephants can fly!

My First 'Drink'

My mom's been feeding me for a few days now and I'm beginning to quite enjoy this diet. Contrary to what many may believe, this stuff rocks! Don't believe me? Fine, I'll let you in on a little secret - but do promise to keep it to yourself. We're actually served 3 courses - the feed starts off as a light liquid which I lap up quite rapidly; When you see me consuming in long deep draws, I'm in the midst of my main course; Finally, there is the part I enjoy most - dessert! It's kinda like a rum infused chocolate pudding - ultimate bliss!

Learning for the day - The best things in life, come to those who wait (two courses)!

My First Photo

This is what my parents claim is my first proper portrait ever. An amazing shot, don't you think? Barely a few minutes had passed since I'd popped out. The paediatrician ridded me of the uterine mucous, the mid-wife cleaned me and wrapped me up in a towel. It was then that a trigger-happy dude showed up and dazed me with this snap. It was only when he remarked at how heavenly I looked, did I recognise his voice - It was my Papa!

Learning for the day - I now know why they're called the PAPArazzi!
